About TOEFL
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) evaluates the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand English in a university level academic setting. It tests candidates on how well they read, write, listen to and speak English to perform academic tasks. The TOEFL scores are recognized and accepted by more than 9000 universities, institutions and agencies in more than 130 countries. The TOEFL test is offered in two formats- the TOEFL iBT (internet based test) and TOEFL PBT (paper based test). The TOEFL PBT is gradually being phased out and it is currently only offered in areas where internet is not available. In Abu Dhabi TOEFL iBT is available (there is a test centre for TOEFL in Abu Dhabi)

Test Structure
The TOEFL iBT is administered via the internet and comprises of four sections- Reading (60-80 minutes), Listening (60-90 minutes), Speaking (20 minutes) and Writing (50 minutes) with a 10 minute break between listening and speaking sections. Since March 2013, the Listening and Speaking sections of TOEFL iBT have started including 'other' native-speaker English accents (e.g. UK, Australia or New Zealand). For the writing task, you have to type your responses using a standard English language (QWERTY) computer keyboard.
The TOEFL is scored out of 120 (30 marks for each section)
